Mobile Apps for Remote Access to St. Thomas Health Libraries' Paid Resources

UpToDate is not accessible when working off-network 

Currently  UpToDate is only accessible on site using a STHS computer, you can not use the APP on site or for off site access unless: see below

St. Thomas Health Residents can use their UTHSC credentials to register for and access UptoDate on mobile phones:

The app gives you access to the following resources:

  • AccessObGyn
  • AccessSurgery
  • Case Files Collection

Note:

  • Sign in every 90 days from the Saint Thomas Health network
  • Your My Access account user name and password will activate this app

Activating the app

To activate and for continued access to the app, the user must have an active MyAccess account through AccessMedicine and sign in every 90 days from the Saint Thomas Health network. Your My Access account user name and password will activate this app.

*NOTE: The app gives you access ONLY to the following AccessMedicine resources:

  1. AccessEmergency Medicine
  2. AccessObGyn
  3. AccessSurgery
  4. Case Files Collection

Downloading the app

This free mobile application allows users to download their AAP eBooks for offline reading on iOS and Android tablets and smartphones. Requires 10 MB storage plus the size of the downloaded eBooks, and a current version of iOS or Android.            

  • For Amazon Kindle Fire and other Android-based eReaders, make sure to enable “installation of apps from external sources” in your device settings.
  • The AAP eBooks Reader app is the best option for frequent access to the same title, and/or when a connection is not available.

Activating the app

The AAP eBooks Reader app is free, but an AAP Login is required to view and download titles. There is no device limit per login.

*NOTE: The EBSCOhost app is authorized to access the profile from which you emailed yourself the authentication key -- for a period of nine months. After nine months you must perform the authorization process again.

  • Visit LexiComp - http://online.lexi.com/lco/action/home/switch
  • Click on the Mobile App Access button (on the right side of the page, near the top)
  • Select your platform (Android/iOS)
  • Create Lexicomp account? (Yes, if you have downloaded app)
  • Follow instructions to enter activation code

    *NOTE: You MUST use your Saint Thomas Health or Ascension email address to activate this app. Your subscription is good for one year from the date that you activated your code. You can check the expiration date by going to Application Info, then My Subscriptions within the app.

Download the Medical Letter app from the App Store or Google Play or Amazon Appstore.

  • Generate Access Token: You must be logged into a Personal account (PIN) first. A link will be sent to the email address associated with your personal account. *NOTE: This link will expire after first use or after 24 hours, whichever comes first.
  • From your mobile device, tap on the link. You will automatically be taken to the OvidToday app on your mobile device. For more information, including which mobile devices OvidToday supports, visit the OvidToday Resource Center.

Search "STAT!Ref" in the iTunes Store or Google Play.

Authenticating a personal account

To use the STAT!Ref Mobile App you MUST have a personal STAT!Ref account. This will allow you to access content thought the libraries' subscription.

  1. Visit STAT!Ref.
  2. Click on the MySTAT!Ref link at the right side of the page near the top.
  3. Fill out the form and click the Log In / Create Account button.
  4. Fill out the next form then click on the Create Account button.
  5. Once you have created your MySTAT!Ref account and logged in, click on the Temporary Login Account tab.
  6. Click on the Activate/Renew button.

*NOTE: Activating the Temporary Login Account will give you the ability to log in to the libraries' STAT!Ref subscription using the same username and password you used for your MySTAT!Ref account. Authentication for the STAT!Ref Mobile App must be renewed after 180 days.
