Mobile Apps for Saint Thomas Health Medical Libraries' Licensed Resources

Downloading the app

  • For Amazon Kindle Fire and other Android-based eReaders, make sure to enable “installation of apps from external sources” in your device settings.
  • The AAP eBooks Reader app is the best option for frequent access to the same title, and/or when a connection is not available.

In a browser (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.)

Simply link to the title and the responsive reader will adjust to your device.

  • This is the best option for institutional users with IP-authenticated access, or any user looking for a quick answer. It requires an Internet connection (WiFi or cellular).

In our AAP eBooks Reader app

This free mobile application allows users to download their AAP eBooks for offline reading on iOS and Android tablets and smartphones. Requires 19 MB storage plus the size of the downloaded eBooks, and a current version of iOS or Android.

    How to login to the app

The AAP eBooks Reader app is free, but an AAP Login is required to view and download titles. There is no device limit per login.

  • Individuals: Log in to the AAP eBooks app using your individual AAP Login if you purchased AAP eBooks title(s) through ShopAAP; you used an activation code for an AAP eBook; and/or you have access to select title(s) by virtue of AAP membership.
  • Institutions: If your institution provides Web-based access to AAP eBooks, log in to the app using information provided by your institutional librarian or administrator. PLEASE NOTE: For institutional users, the login credentials for the eBooks app will be different than those for the eBooks Web site.

To activate and for continued access to the app, the user MUST have an active MyAccess account through AccessMedicine and sign in every 90 days from the Saint Thomas Health network. Your My Access account user name and password will activate this app.

  • Visit LexiComp - http://online.lexi.com/lco/action/home/switch
  • Click on the Mobile App Access button (on the right side of the page, near the top)
  • Select your platform (Android/iOS)
  • Create Lexicomp account? (Yes, if you have downloaded app)
  • Follow instructions to enter activation code

    *NOTE: You MUST use your Saint Thomas Health or Ascension email address to activate this app. Your subscription is good for one year from the date that you activate your code. You can check the expiration date by going to Application Info, then My Subscriptions within the app.

Download the Medical Letter app from the App Store or Google Play or Amazon Appstore.

  • Generate Access Token: You MUST be logged into a Personal account (PIN) first. A link will be sent to the email address associated with your personal account. *NOTE: This link will expire after first use or after 24 hours, whichever comes first.
  • From your mobile device, tap on the link. You will automatically be taken to the OvidToday app on your mobile device. For more information, including which mobile devices OvidToday supports, visit the OvidToday Resource Center.

  • • You must have access to a STAT!Ref subscription. This can be your own subscription or through a consortium, college, university, institution, hospital, etc.
  • • Access the STAT!Ref subscription and create your Profile, enter an email address, a password and click register before attempting to use one of the available apps.
  • • Download the free app for STAT!Ref iPhone and iPad App or STAT!Ref Android™.

The STAT!Ref Android App allows you to access your institution’s STAT!Ref subscription from your Android smartphone as well as other devices with the Android OS such as the Kindle Fire by Amazon Digital Services. Download from these two sources:

iPhone & iPad App

  • • The STAT!Ref Mobile iPhone & iPad App can be downloaded FREE from the iTunes App Store - click here.

Authenticating a personal account

To use the STAT!Ref Mobile App you MUST have a personal STAT!Ref account. This will allow you to access content thought the libraries' subscription.

  1. Visit STAT!Ref.
  2. Click the Profile link above the search window and register for a personal account.

*NOTE: Activating the Temporary Login Account will give you the ability to log in to the libraries' STAT!Ref subscription using the same username and password you used for your MySTAT!Ref account. Authentication for the STAT!Ref Mobile App MUST be renewed after 180 days.

Ascension Saint Thomas Health provides UptoDate Anywhere access to all active providers.
*UptoDate Anywhere accounts will require sign in onsite every 89 days in order to maintain CME tracking.
